Series: Pakistan tour of South Africa One Day Series 2013
Match: 3rd ODI
Venue: Kingsmead, Durban
Dated: 21st March 2013
Match Timings: Pakistan vs South Africa 3rd ODI match will begin on Thursday, 21st March at 10:00 local time – 08:00 GMT
South Africa: South Africa so far have played really well to take 2-1 lead in the series. In all three matches they played good cricket. Though they were lucky that they escaped with a win in the 3rd match as Pakistan almost had won the match. But South Africa’s bowling is one of the best in the world today which makes it difficult to score runs against them. South Africa have lost Faf Du Plessis for the rest of the 2 matches due to injury. Du Plessis who made a good contribution in both the matches South Africa have won in the series with some quick runs in the lower middle order might well be missed. In two matches South Africa won Du Plessis is the key for whom they managed to pass the score of 300 runs and put pressure on Pakistan. He will be replaced by either Miller or De Kock. Kyle Abbott might replace either Rory Kleinveldt or Tsostobe might. Even Morne Morkel might return for the 4th match after recovering from injury as he was seen bowling on net. The rest of the squad looks to be same as the earlier matches as they all performed well in the series so far except for Graem Smith who is still to get a big score in the series. Durban pitch is the slowest of all and South Africa might consider going with an extra spinner on this slow track.
Pakistan: Pakistan on the other hand is on a do or die situation. One slip from now on would cost them the series. The main problem with Pakistan is the consistency. Players getting start on batting but failing to convert them in a big one. Nasir Jamshed got start in all matches but thrown his wicket away trying to play to aggressive. Hafeez was impressive in the 3rd match but couldn’t convert his score to a big one. Malik, Misbah both had a bad day on 3rd match but played well in first two matches. Younis Khan might be replaced by Asad Shafiq after his poor show in three ODIs. Afridi is back on form and was almost won the match for Pakistan in 3rd ODI. In bowling Hafeez, Ajmal are bowling well but fast bowlers except Mohammad Irfan failed to perform so far. Irfan is in great form and with his extra height troubled South African batsmen in all matches. There is bit injury scare on him. Wahab Riaz after his poor bowling in last match might be dropped. The rest of the squad would very much be same as the 3rd ODI.
