The 2nd match of the 3 match One day international series between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will be played at the same ground on which 1st ODI was played. The 1st match was won by Bangladesh by a massive 121 runs margin. They now lead the 3 match series 1-0 and one more win in either this match or the last match will seal the series for them. Zimbabwe wouldn’t have expected Bangladesh to fire up like this and win this easily after the performance in test series. But showed how far they progressed during this time and won the 1st match comfortably. They would want to seal the series winning this 2nd ODI match and not to leave the task for the 3rd ODI match. On the other hand Zimbabwe have no other way back after losing the 1st match. One more loss in the series will hand the trophy over to Bangladesh. Before losing the last series between the two sides in 2011 Bangladesh had won 6 consecutive series against Zimbabwe. The last series loss was a major break down for Bangladesh and 1st test match was also something more than that as Bangladesh were clear favourite to win the series being the better side. But they lost the match and that had awakened them up and they are now poised for revenge. Now it is to see if Zimbabwe can fight back in this 2nd ODI match or Bangladesh stands tall and seal the series with one more match to be played.
Series: Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 2nd ODI Match, 2013
Match: Second One Day Match
Venue: Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo
Dated: 4th May 2013
Match Timings: Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe 2nd ODI match will begin on Sunday, 5th May 09:30 local time – 07:30 GMT
Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe on the first match though showed some fight with the ball nut surrendered easily to the bowling of Bangladesh and lost the match by a big margin of 121 runs. They were all out for just 148 runs with no one contributing any at all. Hamilton Masakadza (38), Brandon Taylor (33) Shingirai Masakadza (33) are the only notable runs scorer for the side. Apart from them only two other managed to score double figure runs. In bowling Shingerai Masakadza was the top bowler for them with 4 wickets to his name while Tendai Chetara picked up 2 wickets. So if Zimbabwe wants to save the series they must win this match or the last match will become just a formality for both the sides.
Bangladesh: Bangladesh on the other hand had a disappointing beginning to the tour losing the 1st test match unexpectedly. But they fought back from there and won the 2nd test match to draw the test series and continued their form in one day series as well. Batsmen scored runs and bowlers bowled exceedingly well to dismiss Zimbabwe for just 148 runs. But there is still some concern for the team as to the batting as the way batsmen threw their wickets away after becoming set to the wicket. Tamim, Ashraful, Mominul, Sakib all are culprit for that. So they must understand the value of their wickets and try to score bigger runs once they are settled in the crease. In bowling there is not much concern. As the fast bowlers performed in the match with Ziaur picking up 5 wickets while Shafiul picked up 2 wickets and they even didn’t have to use their full spin force. So Bangladesh will want the batsmen to play more sensibly and with the bowlers already performing seal the series with one match still at hand.
