On the 2nd match of the day Mumbai Indians will play against Kings XI Punjab. In the point table Mumbai Indians have now moved up to the 4th place now after two wins against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kings XI Punjab is not far behind and they are on 6th place of the point table with 8 points. So they have a chance to move up if they can beat Mumbai in this match and if Mumbai wins they too will move up to the 3rd place of the point table. Both the teams have won their last two matches and both will try their best to get the winning run going. Consistency has always been an issue for Punjab and it is to see if they can manage to maintain this at last. But this will not be easy against Mumbai who is on top of its form after beating defending champion Kolkata and mighty Bangalore by 58 runs.

Head to head: Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab have played 10 matches so far and Punjab have advantage over Mumbai winning 6 matches and losing 4 matches.
Mumbai Indians: Mumbai Indians after playing 8 matches have won 5 matches and lost the other 3 matches. In their last two matches they played exceptionally well and won comfortably against two of the strongest sides of the tournament and moved up to the 4th place. Now they have opportunity to move to the 3rd place if they can win against Punjab in this match. Their batsmen are on top of their form now and bowlers are doing well too. Tendulkar though still lacking his true form at the opening. Dwayne Smith who replace Ponting at opening have been brilliant with the bat in last 2 matches with back to back fifties and was man of the match in both the matches. In last match he performed even with the ball. And in bowling Mitchell Johnson, Malinga and Ojha looks to be in good touch. So if they can play the way they have been in last two matches there is no reason they can’t beat Punjab.
Kings XI Punjab: Punjab have played well so far. Consistency has been an issue for them and after two wins they lost the last match again to Kolkata Knight Riders. So after playing 8 matches they have 4 wins and 4 losses. Their key player is the captain Adam Gilchrist who looks to be getting back to his form slowly. In the last match he scored 27 runs and helped the side to build in a good start. Though in the end they ended up scoring 149 runs because the other batsmen who got start couldn’t capitalize and score a big innings. Then the bowlers let them down. Azhar Mahmood though picked up 3 wickets but was expensive giving away 35 runs. Piyush Chawla gave away 33 runs. But other bowlers weren’t that much expensive but they couldn’t pick up wickets in time when needed. So Punjab need to restart from the beginning so that they can win again.
