After test and T20 series now these two teams face off in a 5 match ODI series clash. South Africa whitewashed Pakistan in the test series and was on top of their game. But Pakistan came back well winning the T20 series against them and now they are confident that they can beat South Africa on ODI series as well. Though it will not be that much easier for them as the host will be poised to maintain their good record against Pakistan. They also lost their last ODI series at home against New Zealand and will be keen to alter the result in their favour. So this is going to be an exciting series between two sides one who is the most unpredictable cricketing side and the other has the title of chockers’ behind them due to their failure in key matches. Though both the teams looks to be leaving those tags behind are very much consistent in recent times.

South Africa: South Africa have got arguably the best fast bowling attack today and they have all the key fast bowlers on this ODI series. Those who missed out test series due to injury are also declared fit for the ODI series. So they have Morne Morkel, Rory Kleinveldt, Dale Steyn, Lonwabo Tsotsobe along with the likes of Ryan McLaren, Kyle Abbott. So it will be a tough task to choose who to play and who to be side lined. Imran Tahir has been missed out in this series as well as Jacques Kallis. Robin Peterson is the only choice for the place of spinner. Graem Smith is back on the side after the T20 series and AB De Villiers is the captain of the ODI team. Hashim Amla is also back on the side. This South African side is full of all-rounders what might be an advantage for any good opponent. Still they are the No.3 ODI side and will be keen to go to the top like the test ranking.

Pakistan: Pakistan on the other hand though very consistent in test but showed inconsistency in One day cricket. They ranked 6th in ICC ODI ranking and they surely would want to be one of the top three in the ranking. The difference isn’t much between them and the above ranked sides and if they can win 3 or 4 consecutive series they surely will make it through. They have a very balanced side for the shorter format of cricket. They have the best bowling attack with top quality fast and spin bowlers. Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz are all top quality fast bowlers while they got Spinners like Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rahman along with Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Hafeezand Shoaib Malik who though are all-rounders but any captain can rely on their bowling as much as batting. Ajmal and Hafeez are the top two bowlers of ICC ODI bowlers ranking and Gul and Afridi are also within top 15. On batting they got Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed on top along with reliable Younis Khan, captain Misbah himself and promising Asad Shafiq. Kamran Akmal, Malik, and Afridi down the order can hit the ball really hard and probably the most dangerous sloggers.

So you can’t count out any of these teams from winning the series with the likes of the players they have on the side. This surely is going to be a series to watch. The 1st match will start at 13.30 IST.
