Match Preview: The series is poised at one all now. Pakistan though lost the first ODI came back well maintaining their record of fighting back winning the second one day international match comfortably by 6 wickets. South Africa were totally outclassed in the second ODI and they now would try to take revenge and get back in the winning track again by beating Pakistan in the third ODI match. Pakistan also wouldn’t let their good momentum on the hands of the hosts. They also are a confident side now and would do anything to get in front in the series. So, whoever wins this 3rd ODI match will lead the 5 match series and would be one more match away from clinching the series. South Africa would be blaming themselves for the loss in the 2nd ODI. It was their pride which cost them the match. They underestimated the strength of Pakistan bowling and they paid for that. They went to the wicket and started hitting around in stead of trying to settle down and play sensibly. For what they were 5 down for just 55 runs in 11 overs!
South Africa: South Africa now suffered the defeat and now they would be rethinking their strategy. Pakistan is back on form and it looked like the fast bowling attack of South Africa is not a major threat to Pakistan now. They played all the bowlers well and stole the win in the 2nd ODI match. They didn’t bat well at first and then their bowling didn’t look that much threatening to Pakistan. When they were under pressure the looked boombazeled. So South Africa might go on to play the 3rd match with some change on the side. But the question is who is to be changed? If individual form is counted almost all the batsmen helped in two ODIs. But Tsobsobe was the one who went for maximum in the 2nd ODI and he might not get place in the squad of the 3rd ODI.
Pakistan: Pakistan on the other hand is on a good position. They looked to be going for win on the 2nd ODI. For the first time they looked confident in the series. Their body language was really good which we didn’t see on the other matches. Afridi batted well in the 1st ODI and didn’t get chance to bat in the 2nd ODI. Younis Khan also played well in the 2nd ODI. Malik, Jamshed, Hafeez looked to be getting back on form. Misbah played a captains knock in the 2nd match and he would be confident to win the 3rd match and take lead for the first time in the series. Ajmal was as good as always. He bowled really economically in 2nd match. Umar Gul didn’t get things on his side on 2nd match but Mohammad Irfan didn’t let it bother with brilliant bowling display picking up 4 of the 5 top order batsmen. Junaid Khan also bowled well.
So the 3rd match will be a battle for taking the lead in the series for both the side and they will be going all out to take the lead. The match will start at 13:00 IST
